Harlem Educational Activities Fund seeking mentors

HEAF MIDDLE SCHOOL MENTORS – RECEIVE FREE GO PASS & SERVICES!

Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) is seeking mentors to volunteer in the NYC Service Middle School Mentoring Initiative. Mentors will be placed with small groups of students, ages 11-14, at New Millennium Business Academy Middle School in the South Bronx. Positively impacting these students’ academic, social and emotional development in pursuit of a college education is the focus of this mentoring program.

Time commitment:

3-5pm on Tuesdays from March 1 through late June 2011, with possible additional training sessions.

Location:

New Millennium Business Academy Middle School, 1000 Teller Ave., Bronx NY

(app. 10-15 min. walk from 4 Train and B/D Trains at 167th Street and Metro-North Harlem Line).

Requirements:

Should have a Bachelor’s degree, or be pursuing one.

Age 18+.

Understand college-bound mindset and be able to talk to middle schoolers about the importance of college.

Must pass a GoPass background check.

Must have a Social Security No.
